Happy Fourth of July!

We had a pretty laid back 4th. We started out the morning with strawberry pancakes smothered in peanut butter which we ate in the family room while we played a rousing game of Mario Party 8 (my new favorite game right now)

After playing around downstairs and being lazy for a long while, we went outside to have a couple of tank battles and set off a lot of smoke bombs before running to the movies. We decided to skip the parade for a multitude of reasons this year and go to see Kung Fu Panda instead. It was such a cute movie!

When we got back home, we all went out in the back yard and picked black raspberries for a big fruit pizza that we had been planning all week. (Grant and I had gone and picked the strawberries earlier in the week) We didn't eat watermelon this 4th even though I had bought one, but we did eat plenty of berries all day long.

We ended the day at some friends' house playing with the rest of our fireworks (which I made David buy in Indiana before he came home this week cause Michigan only sells sparklers, snakes, smoke bombs and pop snaps. (okay, they sell fountains too, but still boring!) ) and watching a couple of displays that you can see from their back deck. It was a lot of fun. Even though they weren't right over the top of your head like they are when you go to the city display, they were still really close and we literally had them going off in three different very close locations so there was so much to look at. The kids ran around having sparkler sword fights (fun with fire) and playing hide and seek. We all had a great time, and didn't end up packing to leave until almost 11:30 . Needless to say, we slept in pretty late this morning.!

Comments:
I'm envious. Sounds like you had a great fourth. We sat in Mike's front yard and saw fireworks all around us so I can picture what you saw that night.
